I wish I could write
just write everything. Everything. and I wish after I wrote, everything would just disappear. as if writing is a cure. A cure to so much bottled up inside. both good and bad. as if writing actually made a difference.
but it does. it does for me.
Many ‘mental’ illnesses are biological; they are just poorly understood.
I once read a piece of his arguing ADHD was made up, which he justified by using several tangentially related case studies, despite the mountains of evidence, specifically fMRIs, indicating significantly less white matter and dopamine in the brain of patients with ADHD, which were indistinguishable when treated with amphetamine salts. I really can’t stand Szasz. He may be right about some crap in the DSM, but he throws the baby out with the bath water worse than any psychologist I’ve ever read.
Anyone who thinks that mental illnesses that are found through empirical data aren’t real are down-right stupid.
